Didn't bother my 6yo daughter, but if you are being protective of that sort of thing, you may want to check out that scene before you let your kids watch it. In more general terms - there is sacrificial culling of an animal character, with a baying mob of witches and beasts which is pretty nasty and quite dark for the general tone of the film. She's 7 now, and no longer has this anxiety anyway that's why I've gone 7+. Part of me is inclined to think these kind of fears are a pretty normal part of growing up, and not dwell on it - but clear she was affected by it, so take that how you will. Would never have anticipated that - but there were a few months where she might bring up her fear of being bombed before bed. However the film genuinely spooked her with the WW2 bombing scene at the beginning. This moment came at 6 for my daughter, she enjoyed the book too. as you can do the 'reward for reading the book' trick. My children do enjoy this film, and it's certainly worth watching with the kids - esp.
